I've heard conflicting stories as to the correct color for a diesel fuel can. I assume red is for gasoline. I know I have a few kerosene cans that are yellow, but that's what it seems most are using for diesel. Is plastic or metal better?

Gas - redKero - bluediesel - yellowPlastic is best for diesel, metal is ok PROVIDED it is NOT galvanized. Diesel attacks the zinc and forms a sludge! ....

Thanks Tony and Norm. I have been wondering the same thing and couldn't find anyone to set me straight. Where would one buy a yellow plastic fuel can? I don't remember ever seeing anything like that. I would really like to have one of greater than five gallon capacity and pump the fuel out. Have you seen anything like that? ....

I got two yellow five gallon plastic cans at my local Autozone for 10.00.BTW if you only want one,they're 7.99 EACH.So do yourself a favor and get the two....LOLThey also have the word DIESEL imprinted into the sides of it,also they sell blue cans as "water only" so I dunno about the kerosene color being blue...but I have been wrong before.Keith ....

Keith,I was at a Sears Hardware store last night, and saw the Kero cans in blue. Yellowdefinitely seems to be the color for Diesel fuel. I found nice diesel cans at thelocal Farm & Home store. ....
